I’m not sure about that dual headlight thing being a law. It might be a requirement for new cars but my second gen GMC C15 turns on all 4 headlights for the high beams.
4Age black top is insane for fun driving cars, in the Bzr the rwd swap makes this a much better car than the prelude. I've owned both JDM models, and the BZR is a fun drive

I recognise the steering, mine feels the same. And i have a couple of times shifted from fifth to neutral, And then i remembered it has no sixt gear. Mine is a Carina E.

I really love the brief mention of the Matrix XRS. I owned one years ago, and I have to say of all the cars I have driven, of all the Corollas I have driven, it has cemented itself as my all time favorite. My '85 Chevy K20 is my favorite vehicle of all time, but the Matrix XRS is my favorite car.
Great review, especially the end. The Corolla has been everything from a boxy 4x4 station wagon to a drift monster coupe and somehow it makes perfect sense that it could be those disparate things and anything in between. Even the E140 Corolla (I have the final model year) somehow manages to be sporty, utterly utilitarian, and on a good day on a smooth road, luxury-esque, just depending on what you're in the mood for. Not that it's the greatest car in the world, but it's probably the car that manages to be more satisfying in multiple aspects than any other.

That car actually had a 6-speed version, the BZ-R. The ratios are even better and if you complained about the engine not revving fast enough, that gearbox might fix that.
This car has nothing to do with a Prelude. Its more of a rival to the Integra or Civic

Interestingly, I believe my 2004 Miata NB2 with stock fog lights has *all* the forward lights on when your brights/high beams are on - fog lights, regular projector headlights, and high beams.
That became Paseo here in North America

I had a BZ-R levin with the super strut suspension, LSD AND factory sunroof (rare), it was a fantastic car, had trumpets on each throttle body which sounded absolutely incredible! Also, the silvertop engine was also 20v, built a turbo ae92 hatch with a silvertop, made 500hp
People looking for a appliance of a car are happy with a corolla at the same time people in the know, just get the xrs or black top, and still have a "appliance" but it turns in to a emotional journey. Not to mention the 2 door emotional journey those engines provide.
When you say "a Levin" - you're also phonetically saying "eleven" as in AE111
The silvertop is a 20 valve and the internals are stronger than the black top, the black top itbs are a little larger than the silvertop, blacktop comes with a 5 or 6 speed trans and a slightly better MAP but the ecus are interchangeable, letting the silvertop rev to 8200 just like the blacktop.

You are the only person, who got a useless English degree and failed to find a way to use it for its intended purpose in any profitable way, whom I will never make fun of for that decision and that failure. Your car reviews are unique in all the world.
So I have an ae111 that is 6 speed with the blacktop, and it revs lot faster than the 5 speed. I also know it is quicker than a B series Honda as I also own a civic (yes it is also vtec). Either way I prefer my Levin. The car in the video is a pre face lift and with it being a 5 speed the gearing was set up for fuel usage, the 6 speed was geared for power having shorter gears to keep you in the power. Same reason the 5 speed doesn’t have power down low where as the 6 speed does. Ps the Levin is a little modded, it is on lowering springs, has a high flow exhaust, with a tune running 100 octane fuel. This maybe why it revs faster but it’s still a great car.
And like the Wu Tang the ae111 is forever . Amazing .
The US law forbidding foglights from staying on when the highbeams are on really isn't a problem. If you stop to think about the intended use of foglights, you'll realize that using them with the highbeams is totally pointless. Foglights are supposed to provide close-range illumination of the road in heavy fog without producing blinding backscatter -- whereas the highbeams do _the exact opposite._
The AE111 is definitely not Toyota's version of the Prelude. It is more comparable to the Civic coupe or maybe Integra.

I had the BZR 6-speed LSD facelift model of one of these, very underrated car.
THIS IS THE ONE JAPANESE CLASSICS WAS SELLING! I committed to buying this car, and then when they did the walkaround over the phone, there were areas of damage, and rust and they revealed half the car had been painted. It's never a good sign when only HALF the car has been painted. I backed out of the deal, worried I would be unhappy with it's physical condition when it arrived :(

Was the car running 98 octane? these engines were specifically designed to run 103 octane and anything less than 98-95 makes them run horrible and rev slowly. I own one of these cars and it accelerates way faster on 98 than the one in this video. Just a thought

Correction on the high beam laws: to my understanding the bulbs can’t be in separate housings. As in, fog lights are a no, but many cars leave the low beam bulbs on when the highs are on.
